Devils Sign Anthony Mantha to Two-Year, $9.5 Million Deal
The 31-year-old forward joins New Jersey after posting career highs with Pittsburgh last season.
The New Jersey Devils signed forward Anthony Mantha to a two-year contract worth $9.5 million, the team announced. The deal carries an average annual value of $4.75 million and pays $5.4 million in 2026-27 and $4.1 million in 2027-28.
Mantha, 31, is coming off a career year with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He recorded 64 points on 33 goals and 31 assists in 81 games last season, all career highs. His 33 goals marked his first 30-goal campaign in the NHL.
The left-shot forward has bounced around the league in recent years. He spent parts of seven seasons with Detroit before being traded to Washington in April 2021. After stints with Vegas and Calgary, he signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh last summer and delivered his best statistical season.
Mantha has 367 points on 179 goals and 188 assists in 588 career regular-season games since debuting with Detroit in March 2016. He brings playoff experience as well, having appeared in 20 postseason games across his time with Washington, Vegas, and Pittsburgh.
The signing gives New Jersey a veteran power forward who proved he could stay healthy and produce over a full season. Mantha played 81 games for the Penguins after missing most of the previous year with Calgary due to ACL surgery that limited him to just 13 games.
