The New Jersey Devils expect Seamus Casey to need eight to 10 weeks of recovery after knee surgery, the club reported on Oct. 2.

Coach Sheldon Keefe said the procedure followed an injury Casey sustained in the preseason game against the New York Rangers the previous week.

Keefe said Casey came through the operation well and will begin rehabilitation. The club will work towards getting him back on the ice as his recovery progresses.

Casey also dealt with injuries during the previous season, which ended for him with surgery in February.
