Devils Add McCabe, Campbell to Development Staff
Bryan McCabe becomes vice president of prospect personnel and an assistant GM in Utica, while Jessica Campbell joins as manager of player development.
The New Jersey Devils hired Bryan McCabe as vice president of prospect personnel and assistant general manager of the Utica Comets, and Jessica Campbell as manager of player development, the club announced Wednesday.
The hires complete New Jersey's development staff. McCabe and Campbell will oversee prospect development and serve as resources for the AHL club in Utica, reporting to Devils assistant general manager and Comets general manager Braden Birch. They join development coaches Eric Weinrich, Mark Voakes and Esa Pirnes.
McCabe, 51, arrives after 14 seasons in player-development and personnel roles with the Florida Panthers. He joined Florida as a development coach in 2012-13, served as director of player development from 2013-14 through 2016-17 and became director of player personnel in 2017-18. He was part of the front office during three consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearances and championships in 2024 and 2025.
The former defenseman played 1,135 NHL games over 15 seasons with the Islanders, Canucks, Blackhawks, Maple Leafs, Panthers and Rangers, recording 528 points. He captained Florida in 2009-10.
Campbell, 34, spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the Seattle Kraken. Hired in July 2024, she became the first full-time female assistant coach to work behind an NHL bench during the regular season. She stepped down April 30 to pursue other opportunities.
Before joining Seattle's NHL staff, Campbell spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, helping the club reach the Calder Cup Final in both seasons. She previously played four seasons at Cornell, where she was a senior captain and overlapped with Birch for three years, and later played professionally for the CWHL's Calgary Inferno.
