Derek Forbort signs AHL tryout with Calgary Wranglers
The veteran defenceman returns to the Flames organization after two seasons with Vancouver.

The Calgary Wranglers added Derek Forbort on a professional tryout, the AHL club announced on its official X account on Oct. 1.
Forbort returns to the Flames organization, where he played during the 2019-20 season. He spent the past two seasons with the Vancouver Canucks, but hip issues limited him to two NHL games in 2025-26, according to Pro Hockey Rumors.
The 34-year-old defenceman has played 552 NHL regular-season games for Los Angeles, Calgary, Winnipeg, Boston and Vancouver. The Kings selected him 15th overall in the 2010 NHL Draft.
