Ivan Demidov took a therapy day Monday and did not join the Montreal Canadiens on the ice, Sportsnet reported. Alexandre Carrier, Oliver Kapanen and Kaiden Guhle participated in the practice.

Carrier’s presence followed his early exit from Saturday’s overtime defeat in Pittsburgh. Contact with Egor Chinakhov sent the defenceman head-first into the boards during the second period. Kapanen is recovering from a lower-body injury, while Guhle has an adductor injury; neither has appeared in a game this season.

Demidov has two points through Montreal’s opening two games. During the preseason, a shot blocked with his foot had kept him out of two practices.

Montreal’s next opponent is Carolina on Tuesday, a rematch of last season’s Eastern Conference Final.
