Dakota Joshua Skates With Marlies, Uncertain for Maple Leafs Opener
Toronto's forward missed Saturday's split-squad games against Montreal and practiced with the AHL group Monday.
Dakota Joshua's availability for Toronto's season opener is in question after the forward skated with the Toronto Marlies group at Monday's practice.
Head coach Jim Hiller told reporters Monday that Joshua is dealing with an unspecified injury and that his status for the Maple Leafs' opener against the Montreal Canadiens is uncertain. Joshua did not play in Saturday's split-squad games against Montreal, after which Hiller said the forward was "dealing with something."
Joshua, 30, put up 10 goals and eight assists in 55 games in his first season with Toronto after arriving in an offseason trade from the Vancouver Canucks. He missed 27 games and still led the Maple Leafs in hits with 195.
The Dearborn, Michigan, native has 50 goals and 46 assists in 296 career games with the Maple Leafs, Canucks and St. Louis Blues.
Toronto opens the regular season on Sept. 29 at home against the Canadiens.
