Seven of the winger’s nine goals came on the power play, a four-game mark only two other players have reached in NHL records.

Cutter Gauthier became the first Anaheim Ducks player to score nine goals over four games when he struck on a first-period power play against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday. He also picked up an assist in Anaheim’s 5–4 win.

The goal was Gauthier’s seventh on the power play over those four games. According to the NHL, Teemu Selanne in 2008–09 and Dave Andreychuk in 1992–93 are the only other players to score at least seven power-play goals in a four-game span since the league began tracking special-teams statistics in 1933–34.

Gauthier started the run with two power-play goals against Buffalo on Oct. 29, ending a nine-game goal drought. He scored hat tricks against Ottawa and Vancouver, with two goals on the power play in each game. The Ducks scored on 12 of their 20 power plays over the four games.

Thursday’s two points extended Gauthier’s point streak to six games, during which he has nine goals and three assists. He has 11 goals and six assists in 15 games this season.
