Cornell's Derraugh Compares Victoire Pick Avi Adam to Guy Lafleur

Doug Derraugh reached for a Canadiens legend when asked about former Cornell forward Avi Adam, whom Montréal selected 24th overall in the 2026 PWHL Draft.

"She is kind of like a Guy Lafleur," the Cornell coach said. He described Adam as someone who "flies down the wing and has the big shot," adding that some of her plays make him think, "whoa, that was special."

Adam, a 5-foot-9 forward from Wolfville, Nova Scotia, finished her Cornell career with 83 points — 39 goals and 44 assists — in 128 games. She led the Big Red in scoring in each of her final two seasons, according to Cornell.

Derraugh recalled goals against Clarkson and Colgate, as well as a shot Adam scored about 45 seconds into an ECAC semifinal against Yale last season. He said she tends to raise her game in bigger moments.

The Montréal Victoire listed Adam as its second-round selection, 24th overall, in the 2026 draft.
