What's newConnor Brown is expected to miss New Jersey’s first two games with a lower-body injury; Stefan Noesen will play in the season opener.

Connor Brown will miss the New Jersey Devils’ first two games of the season because of a lower-body injury, the club said in its Thursday morning-skate report. Stefan Noesen will take his place in the lineup against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Prudential Center.

The club’s Wednesday practice notebook reported that Brown was hurt near the end of Monday’s practice. New Jersey was awaiting further imaging at that point. Keefe said he did not expect Brown to be sidelined for an extended period.

Brown did not skate Wednesday at the RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House inside Prudential Center. Noesen moved into his spot and practised on a line with Amadeus Lombardi and centre Cody Glass. Keefe confirmed Noesen would play Thursday and said the veteran had finished training camp feeling healthy.

The Devils’ opener begins at 7 p.m. ET. Lombardi is set to make his NHL debut in the game.
