Cole Knuble played his first NHL game for the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday, Oct. 19, facing Colorado with his parents in the arena. The 22-year-old grew up supporting the club while his father, Mike Knuble, played in Philadelphia.

“Obviously I have been a fan of this team my whole life, so I think it’s extra special,” Knuble said.

Philadelphia recalled Knuble and Alex Bump from the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Monday. The Flyers also brought up Jacob Gaucher and placed Owen Tippett on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, retroactive to Oct. 15. Tippett, Tyson Foerster and Travis Konecny were unavailable against the Avalanche.

Knuble was a fourth-round selection in the 2023 NHL Draft. After narrowly missing an opening-night roster spot, he said the opportunity to play in different situations at Lehigh Valley helped him move past the disappointment of being sent down.
