Carbonneau scores in both games as Springfield opens 2-0

Justin Carbonneau scored in both games of Springfield’s opening weekend, and Will Cranley stopped 24 shots in Sunday’s win over Providence.

Justin Carbonneau scored in each of the Springfield Thunderbirds’ first two games of the 2026-27 AHL season, helping the club open with two road wins.

The St. Louis Blues’ 2025 first-round pick scored his first professional goal at 3:11 of the opening period against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday, Oct. 3. He also assisted on T.J. Tynan’s first-period goal as Springfield won 3-2 in overtime.

On Sunday, Carbonneau scored on a power-play rebound at 17:59 of the second period against the Providence Bruins. Aleksanteri Kaskimäki and Tynan assisted on the goal, which put Springfield ahead 1-0.

Will Cranley stopped all 24 shots in his first start of the season, and Otto Stenberg added an empty-net goal at 18:33 of the third period to complete the 2-0 win.

Carbonneau finished the weekend with two goals and an assist. Kaskimäki had three assists across the two games.
