Capitals place Justin Holl on waivers for potential Hershey loan
Washington waived the veteran defenceman Saturday so it can loan him to the Bears if he clears; the club learns the result Sunday afternoon.
The Washington Capitals placed defenceman Justin Holl on waivers Saturday for the purpose of loaning him to the Hershey Bears, the club said in its game-day report before its preseason finale in Philadelphia.
Washington will learn at 2 p.m. Sunday whether Holl cleared. The NHL's deadline for clubs to submit opening-night rosters is 5 p.m. Monday.
Four players the Capitals waived on Friday, goaltender Mitchell Gibson, defenceman Jacob MacDonald and forwards Josh Dunne and Bogdan Trineyev, cleared on Saturday and are expected to report to Hershey.
The Capitals signed Holl to a one-year, $900,000 contract in July. The club said he recorded two points (one goal, one assist) in nine games with St. Louis in 2025-26 and 14 points in 41 AHL games with Grand Rapids.
