Capitals bring young lineup to Philadelphia for preseason finale
Charlie Lindgren is expected to lead Washington’s youthful group against the Flyers on Saturday afternoon.
The Washington Capitals are expected to dress a young lineup for Saturday's preseason finale against the Flyers in Philadelphia. Most of Washington's veteran regulars have already played two exhibition games and are expected to sit out the club's fourth and final tune-up.
Goaltender Charlie Lindgren, with 170 NHL appearances, is expected to be the most experienced player in the Capitals lineup. Coach Spencer Carbery had not said whether Lindgren would play the entire game or share the crease with Cal Petersen, the former Flyers goalie attending Washington's camp on a professional tryout. Petersen was expected to back up Lindgren.
Lindgren played just under 30 minutes against Philadelphia on Monday, stopping 12 of 14 shots before Clay Stevenson took over. Washington's regular season begins next weekend with road games at Carolina and Tampa Bay.
