Canucks place Filip Chytil on injured reserve after shoulder injury

Vancouver says the move is retroactive to Sept. 24, when Chytil left a pre-season game against Edmonton.

The Vancouver Canucks placed forward Filip Chytil on injured reserve Friday, retroactive to Sept. 24, general manager Ryan Johnson announced through the club’s official account.

Chytil left Thursday’s pre-season game against the Edmonton Oilers in the first period after his skates clipped an official’s and he hit the end boards. Vancouver coach Manny Malhotra said after the game that the club would examine Chytil’s shoulder.

Johnson later described the injury as a muscular strain in the shoulder and said Chytil would be assessed week to week, according to Sportsnet.
