Brunette explains Predators’ Brady Martin assignment to Milwaukee
Nashville wants its young centre to play substantial minutes for the Admirals after Saturday’s camp cut.
The Nashville Predators assigned Brady Martin to the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday, and coach Andrew Brunette explained Sunday why the club wants the centre to start in the AHL.
Brunette said Nashville has a full group at centre. He wants Martin to keep playing that position in Milwaukee, receive substantial minutes and handle the puck regularly. Keeping him on the NHL roster without enough playing time could slow his development, the coach said.
The Predators considered using Martin on the wing. Brunette said the club instead chose AHL minutes after a camp in which Martin improved as it went along. “When he plays here, we want him to be an impactful player,” Brunette said.
Nashville announced the assignment in its Saturday roster update. Martin was the fifth overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
