Bruins Mourn Front Office Executive Alex Gimenez
Gimenez joined Boston in July as director of hockey operations and collective bargaining agreement.
The Boston Bruins announced Friday that Alex Gimenez, the club's director of hockey operations and collective bargaining agreement, has died.
Don Sweeney, the general manager, said Gimenez's intelligence, thoughtfulness and character showed from the moment he arrived in the organization. Sweeney said Gimenez earned the respect of colleagues throughout his career and that the Bruins' thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
Boston hired Gimenez in July for a newly created role covering contract negotiations, salary-cap management, compliance with the collective bargaining agreement and player-acquisition strategy.
Before joining the Bruins, Gimenez worked as manager of hockey analytics and strategic projects for the Professional Women's Hockey League beginning in January 2026. Before that, he worked in the Boston Red Sox front office for over 10 years; his last role there, from 2023-25, was in major league operations and pro scouting, as an assistant director.
Gimenez was a Cornell University graduate with a degree in industrial and labour relations.
