Bruins assign Duran and Locmelis to Providence, waive Jokiharju

Boston also directed Jake Schmaltz to Providence’s camp and placed Matt Poitras on injured reserve.

The Boston Bruins assigned forwards Riley Duran and Dans Locmelis to Providence on Sunday and directed Jake Schmaltz to the AHL club’s training camp, according to a team release.

Boston also placed defenceman Henri Jokiharju on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to Providence. His assignment depends on clearing waivers.

The Bruins placed Matt Poitras on injured reserve and listed Sept. 22 as his injury date. The club did not announce a diagnosis or a return timetable.
