Blues Assign Six Players to AHL Springfield in First Camp Cuts
Five skaters and goaltender Parker Gahagen head to the Thunderbirds; two 2026 draft picks return to junior clubs.
The St. Louis Blues assigned six players to the AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds on Sunday in their first training-camp cuts, according to The Hockey News. Five are skaters: forwards Juraj Pekarcik, Simon Robertsson and Jakub Stancl, plus defensemen Michael Buchinger and Lukas Fischer. Goaltender Parker Gahagen is the sixth.
St. Louis also returned two 2026 draft picks to junior hockey. Forward Maddox Dagenais, the No. 16 pick, is headed to the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL. Goaltender Vladimir Proskurin, selected 123rd overall, returns to the Victoria Royals of the WHL.
The Blues opened camp with 48 players, according to their published camp roster. The eight moves leave 40 at camp. The junior clubs have confirmed Dagenais' and Proskurin's 2026-27 destinations.
The assignments add to Springfield's preseason pool; they do not establish the Thunderbirds' opening-night lineup.
