Blues' Adam Jiricek set for NHL debut on opening night in Dallas

The 2024 first-round pick draws into the lineup against the Stars on Friday, skating on the top pair with Philip Broberg.

Adam Jiricek will make his NHL regular-season debut for the St. Louis Blues against the Dallas Stars on Friday, Oct. 2, at American Airlines Center. The game begins at 8 p.m. CT.

Coach Jim Montgomery plans to pair Jiricek with Philip Broberg. Montgomery said Broberg's work alongside fellow young defenceman Logan Mailloux helped inform that choice.

St. Louis selected Jiricek 16th overall in the 2024 NHL Draft and signed him to a three-year entry-level contract the following month. The Blues sent him to AHL Springfield after the preseason, then recalled him on Sept. 27.

Jiricek's parents, Libor and Lenka, are travelling from Prague to attend his debut. After Friday's morning skate, he said he expected his emotions to build as game time approached while focusing on his job.
