Blue Jackets send five to Cleveland, place Merzlikins and Lundestrom on injured non-roster list
Goaltender Nolan Lalonde leads the group loaned to the AHL Monsters as Columbus trims its training camp roster.
The Columbus Blue Jackets cut five players from their training camp roster Friday, loaning all of them to the Cleveland Monsters, their American Hockey League affiliate.
Goaltender Nolan Lalonde, forwards Oiva Keskinen and Luke Tuch, and defencemen Charlie Elick and Guillaume Richard are headed to Cleveland, president of hockey operations and general manager Don Waddell announced.
Columbus also designated two veterans as injured non-roster: forward Isac Lundestrom and goaltender Elvis Merzlikins. The club's announcement did not describe either injury or give a timeline for either player.
The Blue Jackets close their preseason Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena, with puck drop at 7 p.m. ET.
