Blackhawks Place Derrick Pouliot on Waivers for Rockford Assignment
The 32-year-old defenseman can be assigned to the IceHogs if he clears Monday's waiver period.
The Chicago Blackhawks placed defenseman Derrick Pouliot on waivers Monday for the purpose of assigning him to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs.
If Pouliot clears, Chicago can assign him to Rockford. Another NHL club can claim him before the waiver period expires.
Chicago acquired Pouliot from the New York Rangers on March 6 in exchange for forward Aidan Thompson. Pouliot had 28 points (two goals, 26 assists) in 52 games for Hartford before the trade, then recorded six assists in 16 games for Rockford. He finished the AHL season with 34 points in 68 games.
The 32-year-old defenseman has 54 points (eight goals, 46 assists) in 226 NHL games. Pittsburgh selected him eighth overall in the 2012 NHL Draft.
