Justin Barron is expected to play his first game for the St. Louis Blues when they host the San Jose Sharks at Enterprise Center on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m. ET.

The Blues' morning-skate report has Barron replacing Theo Lindstein on a defence pair with Colton Parayko. St. Louis claimed Barron off waivers from the Nashville Predators on Sept. 27, but he has not yet appeared for his new club.

Coach Jim Montgomery said Barron would bring "a little bit more of a veteran presence" to the lineup, pointing to his skating, puck movement and decision-making.

St. Louis is 1-2-0 heading into its home opener after three games on the road. The Blues lost their past two games, including a 4-2 defeat in Chicago on Tuesday.
