Avalanche take franchise-record scoring start into Winnipeg
Colorado scored 14 goals in its first two games before beginning its first road trip against the Jets on Wednesday.
The Colorado Avalanche take a franchise-record scoring start into their first road game of the season, visiting the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The game at Canada Life Centre begins at 5:30 p.m. MDT.
Colorado scored 14 goals in its first two games, matching the franchise's opening two-game record set by the 1992-93 Quebec Nordiques, the club said in its official preview.
The Avalanche's latest win was a 6-1 victory over St. Louis on Saturday. Martin Necas scored twice, Nathan MacKinnon had three assists and Mackenzie Blackwood made 25 saves.
Coach Jared Bednar said Colorado had improved its rush coverage and defensive-zone habits from the opener. “The things that we liked out of the first game, they were multiplied in this one,” he said. “And the things that we didn't like were so much better.”
Winnipeg enters after a 3-2 win in Pittsburgh on Monday, when Cole Perfetti scored the winner and Clay Stevenson stopped 29 shots.
Wednesday is the first of four scheduled meetings between Colorado and Winnipeg this season.
