AHL Expands Video Review System for 2026-27
The league will use Spiideo's multi-angle camera system in all 32 arenas as revised video review and coach's challenge rules take effect.
The American Hockey League Board of Governors approved changes to Rule 37, which covers video review, and Rule 38, which covers the coach's challenge, for the 2026-27 season, league president and CEO Scott Howson announced.
The AHL is entering the second year of a multi-year partnership with Spiideo. The company's automated camera system provides high-definition, multi-angle views of the entire ice surface in all 32 AHL arenas, along with controls intended to streamline reviews.
AHL video reviews are conducted by the on-ice officials at the scorer's table. The league said Spiideo's video resources are also available to its Player Safety Committee during supplemental-discipline reviews.
