JOFA Is Back, and It Comes in Senior Sizes Only

If you have been waiting on the JOFA revival, the gear is now in Canadian stores. Source for Sports began listing four CCM JOFA pieces on September 3: gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads and shin guards, all senior sizing, with Canadian list prices on those listings running from CA$229.99 to CA$299.99. CCM set the collection's launch for September 10, and its U.S. site lists the gloves at US$249.99, the elbow pads at US$199.99 and the shoulder pads at US$259.99, the same prices U.S. retailer Ice Warehouse shows.

Here is the detail that matters most if you are deciding whether to buy: Ice Warehouse lists the JOFA gloves and elbow pads as new to the market but built to the same specs as CCM's Tacks XR Pro models. By that account, the two pieces put the JOFA look on existing Tacks XR Pro specs, and Ice Warehouse rates both for elite play with a high-profile fit.

The gloves come in a white and navy colourway at 13, 14 and 15 inches, and Ice Warehouse lists a weight of 300 grams in the 14-inch. CCM's product page describes an Anatomical Shield Design with a roomy construction, D3O Zero blocks at the knuckles and fingertips and a Sensalast Pro palm with embossed reinforcement, and Ice Warehouse adds a low-profile injected polyethylene backhand plate with a vent port, three-piece index and ring fingers and the two-piece Elite Flex Thumb.

CCM's product page describes the elbow pads as a two-piece build with JDP caps that steer impact away from the joint, a D3O Zero comfort donut around the cap, a length-adjustable ADPTFIT slash guard with D3O Zero on the forearm, FLEXMOTION dual-layer bicep protectors and ADPTFIT 360 straps. Sizes run senior small through XL.

CCM's product page describes the shoulder pads with floating sternum and spine shields that pair moulded HD foam with D3O, low-profile Flexmotion shoulder caps with D3O, and an anatomical shield design with moulded Zotefoam side panels, air channels and a decoupled back panel. Length-adjustable ADPTFit torso straps set the fit.

CCM is leaning hard on the backstory: JOFA has roots in Dalarna, Sweden dating to 1926, and the brand lists Filip Forsberg wearing the new collection. Practically, though, senior-only sizing means this is a line for adults who want the look.
