JOFA Is Back, and It Is a Tacks XR Pro Underneath
CCM's revived Swedish protective line hit Source for Sports shelves this month in senior sizes only, with the same guts as its Tacks flagship.
If you have been waiting on the JOFA revival, the gear is now in Canadian stores. Source for Sports began listing four CCM JOFA pieces on September 3: gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads and shin guards, all senior sizing, with Canadian list prices on those listings running from CA$229.99 to CA$299.99. CCM had the collection up for pre-order ahead of a September 10 launch, and U.S. retailer Ice Warehouse pegged its drop at September 11 with prices of $249.99 for the gloves, $199.99 for the elbow pads and $259.99 for the shoulder pads.
Here is the detail that matters most if you are deciding whether to buy: Ice Warehouse lists the JOFA gloves and elbow pads as new to the market but built to the same specs as CCM's Tacks XR Pro models. So this is a heritage skin on a current elite-tier platform, not a new mold. If the XR Pro fit you, JOFA will fit you.
The gloves come in white and navy at 13, 14 and 15 inches, with a listed weight of 300 grams in the 14-inch. They use CCM's Anatomical Shield Design for a roomy high-profile fit, D3O Zero foam at the knuckles and fingertips, a low-profile injected polyethylene backhand plate with a vent port, three-piece index and ring fingers, the two-piece Elite Flex Thumb, and a Sensalast Pro palm with embossed reinforcement.
The elbow pads are a two-piece build with JDP caps that steer impact away from the joint, a D3O Zero comfort donut around the cap, a length-adjustable ADPTFIT slash guard with D3O Zero on the forearm, FLEXMOTION dual-layer bicep protectors and ADPTFIT 360 straps. Sizes run senior small through XL.
Shoulder pads carry an injection-molded sternum guard reinforced with D3O Zero, plus D3O Zero at the collarbone, shoulder caps and spine. Dual Core high-density caps use FLEXMOTION construction, AER-TEC ventilation runs through the front and rear panels, and the belly and kidney protection is removable and height-adjustable.
CCM is leaning hard on the backstory: JOFA has roots in Dalarna, Sweden dating to 1926, and the brand lists Filip Forsberg wearing the new collection. Practically, though, senior-only sizing means this is a line for adults who want the look without dropping to a lower protection tier.
