Joey Muldowney returns to UConn after weighing an AHL move
The senior forward and Huskies captain chose another college season as UConn continues its pursuit of a first Hockey East championship.
Joey Muldowney will return to UConn for the 2026-27 season after considering a move to the American Hockey League, according to WFSB.
The decision keeps the Huskies captain in Storrs for his senior season. UConn's official roster lists Muldowney as a forward after he recorded 17 goals and 12 assists in 34 games last season.
WFSB reported that Muldowney could have moved on to the AHL but chose one more college season. The report did not identify a prospective AHL club or describe a contract offer, so his return is best understood as a development decision rather than a completed professional transaction.
UConn is still seeking its first Hockey East men's championship. Muldowney's return gives the program an experienced scorer and captain for that pursuit.
