Idaho Steelheads Re-Sign Sam Jardine for 2026-27
The veteran defenseman returns to Boise for a second season after recording 21 points in 68 games with the Steelheads.
The Idaho Steelheads have re-signed defenseman Sam Jardine to an ECHL contract for the 2026-27 season, the club announced Tuesday.
Jardine, 32, returns for a second season in Boise after recording 21 points, including one goal and 20 assists, in 68 games last season. He added two assists in Idaho's first-round playoff series against the Allen Americans.
He also reached two career milestones during the final regular-season series against Tulsa, surpassing 300 ECHL games and 500 professional games.
The Lacombe, Alberta, native has played parts of seven ECHL seasons and won two Kelly Cups, with the Colorado Eagles in 2017 and the Newfoundland Growlers in 2019. His best offensive season came in 2020-21 with Greenville, when he collected 44 points in 67 games and earned ECHL First All-Star Team honors.
Across 302 regular-season ECHL games with Indy, Colorado, Orlando, Newfoundland, Greenville and Idaho, the left-shot defenseman has 115 points. He has added 17 points in 49 playoff games and appeared in 85 AHL games with Calgary, Toronto, San Antonio and Rockford.
Before turning professional, Jardine spent three seasons at Ohio State and served as an alternate captain in 2014-15. Chicago selected him in the sixth round, 179th overall, of the 2011 NHL Draft.
Idaho, the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars, opens its 29th season Oct. 16 at New Mexico and hosts Allen in its home opener Oct. 23.
