PWHL Sets Nov. 18 Training Camp Openings for 12 Teams
Camps open two days after the World Championship ends in Denmark, with each club playing two preseason scrimmages between Nov. 22 and Nov. 30.
PWHL teams will open training camp for the 2026-27 season on Wednesday, Nov. 18, the league announced, with all 12 clubs then playing two preseason scrimmages between Nov. 22 and Nov. 30.
The camp date lands two days after the 2026 IIHF Women's World Championship wraps up in Denmark, where the tournament runs Nov. 6-16. Training camp rosters will be announced the week of Oct. 5, and each team will invite between 28 and 32 players.
The scrimmages will be hosted in five markets, and three of the league's four expansion clubs are on the host list. PWHL Hamilton will run a group at Morgan Firestone Arena with PWHL Detroit, the Ottawa Charge and the Toronto Sceptres. PWHL Las Vegas hosts the Minnesota Frost and Vancouver Goldeneyes at America First Center. PWHL San Jose meets the Seattle Torrent at Tech CU Arena on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30. Toronto also hosts Ottawa at Mattamy Athletic Centre, and the Boston Fleet will welcome the Montreal Victoire and New York Sirens to Boston Sports Institute.
Format: 60 minutes of full stoppage play with 21-player lineups, followed by a 3-on-3 overtime and a shootout regardless of the score. Live stats will be posted at thepwhl.com. Host teams will announce fan access details later.
The league grows to 12 teams this season, with Detroit, Hamilton, Las Vegas and San Jose joining the eight existing clubs in Boston, Minnesota, Montreal, New York, Ottawa, Seattle, Toronto and Vancouver.
The schedule news comes a day after the PWHL announced a national U.S. broadcast agreement with Scripps Sports for 2026-27, its first season-long national television package in the United States. It includes a Saturday Game of the Week on ION, two weekly games on Scripps Sports Network, and ION as the exclusive U.S. home of the Walter Cup Finals.
