UConn and Quinnipiac will open their women's hockey preseasons with an exhibition game Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Toscano Family Ice Forum in Storrs.

The Huskies enter the season ranked No. 7 in the USCHO poll after going 28-9-2, winning the Hockey East tournament and recording the program's first NCAA tournament victory. Quinnipiac is ranked No. 6 after a 29-9-2 season that included the ECAC Hockey tournament title.

UConn must replace forward Kyla Josifovic and goaltender Tia Chan, who were selected by PWHL Detroit and PWHL San Jose, respectively, in the 2026 PWHL Draft. Coach Chris MacKenzie said Shannon Moran, Amelia Wilkinson and Taylor Belchetz have been competing for the open goaltending role.

Captain Claire Murdoch returns after averaging a point per game last season. Livvy Dewar and Julia Pellerin are also back among UConn's forwards.

Quinnipiac returns goaltender Felicia Frank and forward Kahlen Lamarche. The teams last met in the Nutmeg Classic semifinals, where UConn won 4-3 before claiming the tournament title.

After the exhibition, UConn opens the regular season at St. Cloud State on Sept. 25.
