CALGARY - The Red Deer Rebels selected centre Ryan Nugent-Hopkins from Burnaby, B.C., first overall in the Western Hockey League's bantam draft Thursday.
The five-foot-10, 145-pound captain of the Burnaby Winter Club Bruins was named most valuable player at the Western Canada bantam championship in April with 10 goals and four assists in five games.

RED DEER, Alta. - The E0dmonton Oil Kings struck for four power-play goals Saturday en route to a 6-3 WHL win over the Red Deer Rebels.
Braeden Adamyk, Brenden Dowd, Brett Breitkreuz and Craig McCallum notched power-play markers for Edmonton (22-38-4-7), while Brent Raedeke and Shayne Neigum scored even strength.

EDMONTON - J.P. Szaszkiewicz scored twice and Jeff Lee added three assists as the Oil Kings snapped a seven game losing streak in their last home game of the season, defeating the Red Deer Rebels 5-1 in Western Hockey League action on Friday night.
Szaszkiewicz's game-winner came early in the second to put Red Deer (18-46-4-3) down 2-0. Michael Burns won the faceoff to left winger Szaszkiewicz, whose shot found the blocker corner behind Rebel netminder Morgan Clark.

RED DEER, Alta. - Travis Dunstall had two goals and an assist to lead the Medicine Hat Tigers over the Red Deer Rebels 4-1 in WHL action on Tuesday.
Yashar Farmanara and Jerrid Sauer had the other goals for Medicine Hat (43-21-5-2).
Rebels centre Troy Ofukany spoiled Ryan Holfeld's shutout bid with a goal at 14:34 of the third period.
