CHICAGO - It's been quite a rookie season for Patrick Kane. The 19-year-old forward is setting records and keeping the Chicago Blackhawks in the hunt for a playoff berth.
Kane scored the only goal in a shootout and the Blackhawks boosted their slim playoff chances with a 5-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday night.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Joe Thornton scored two goals in the first period, and the San Jose Sharks eliminated the Phoenix Coyotes from playoff contention with a 3-1 victory Sunday night.
Curtis Brown also scored and Evgeni Nabokov made 19 saves for the Sharks, who have earned a point in every game since Feb. 20 while rolling to the third Pacific Division title in franchise history. They have 36 points in their last 19 games, including three straight wins since an overtime loss at Phoenix on Tuesday.

LOS ANGELES - Erik Ersberg is showing the Los Angeles Kings he is ready for the NHL.
Anze Kopitar had a goal and two assists and Ersberg made 38 saves as the Kings earned a 4-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night. Ersberg earned his second career shutout in his 10th NHL start, all in the past month. Ersberg also shut out the Ottawa Senators 2-0 on March 6.

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Martin Hanzal picked the right time for the Phoenix Coyotes to end his goal-scoring drought.
Scoring his seventh of the season and first since Jan 30., Hanzal connected on a wrist shot with 1:37 left in overtime to give the Coyotes a 5-4 win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night. "I got lucky and hit the perfect spot," he said. "It's amazing when you score a goal, and I love it."
