Gary Roberts sits out for Penguins in Game 3 against Flyers

72 days 10 hours 43 minutes ago.

PHILADELPHIA - Pittsburgh Penguins forward Gary Roberts sat out Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday night because he was sick.

Roberts came to the arena Tuesday when the Penguins held their morning skate, but didn't take part.

Pittsburgh coach Michel Therrien said the 41-year-old left winger would be a game-time decision. Roberts wasn't with his teammates for the pre-game warmup and was later announced among the scratched players.

Adam Hall, who didn't play in Pittsburgh's Game 2 victory over Philadelphia, went back into the Penguins lineup.

Roberts has played in only six of Pittsburgh's 12 post-season games. He was sidelined by a groin injury earlier in the playoffs and was out of the lineup for five games. Roberts didn't come back to active duty until Game 4 of the second round against the New York Rangers when Maxime Talbot was forced out with an injured foot.

Talbot returned Sunday, following a three-game absence, and scored the winning goal when the Penguins took a 2-0 series lead over the Flyers.
