WINDSOR, Ont. - The Windsor Spitfires are back in their series with the Sarnia Sting thanks to a potent performance from their power play.
The Spitfires scored three times with the man advantage Sunday in a 4-2 Ontario Hockey League playoff win over the Sting.
The Spitfires now trail the Sting 2-1 in the Western Conference quarter-final.
Windsor native Matt Martin opened the scoring in the game for the Sting in the first period.
Adam Henrique, on a power play, and Jordan Nolan scored for the Spitfires in the second period.
Sting superstar Stephen Stamkos tied the game with his fifth goal of the series, making the score 2-2 after forty minutes
Greg Nemisz put Windsor back in front with another power-play goal, and Spitfires star rookie Taylor Hall scored his first goal of the playoffs, also with the man advantage, to seal the win.
The game could have been decided earlier if not for the heroics of Sarnia goaltender Andrew Perugini, who faced 64 shots.
Windsor was playing without Brad Snetsinger, the team's second-leading scorer during the regular season. He was sitting out the first game of a three-game suspension he received after hick-sticking Martin in the throat on Friday night.
Rookie left-winger Garrett Wilson made his OHL play-off debut in the game but did not figure in the scoring. Defenceman Marek Biro, who was a late scratch for Game Two due to a lower body injury, returned to the Spits lineup and collected two assists in the game.
Jakub Kovar, who was pulled after allowing four goals in the first 40 minutes of game two of the series in Sarnia on Friday night, faced 21 shots while picking up his first career playoff victory.
