GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Phoenix Coyotes signed Kevin Porter, winner of the Hobey Baker Award as the nation's top college hockey player, on Monday.
Porter, 22, completed his senior season at Michigan this year and was second in NCAA Division I in scoring with 33 goals and 33 assists in 43 games. The Wolverines' captain finished his college career with 85 goals and 98 assists.

DENVER - Michigan captain Kevin Porter could've bolted after last season to begin his pro career.
The Wolverines were young, and were expected to take their lumps this season. Porter, being the captain that he is, wanted to stick around and guide the young players.
And while it didn't pay off with a national title, Porter did help Michigan to its first Frozen Four appearance in five years.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The day just kept getting better for Ryan Jones.
Hours after signing a deal with the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday, the native of Chatham, Ont., was named as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, given to the NCAA college hockey player of the year.
