ANAHEIM, Calif. - When speculation about his future in Anaheim hit the West Coast media, Brian Burke knew it was time to set the record straight.

Burke put the widespread rumours to rest Wednesday, announcing he will remain as general manager and executive vice-president with the Anaheim Ducks through at least the 2008-09 season.

Brian Burke stops short of confirming he'll stay on as Ducks' GM

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Will it be Toronto or Anaheim for Brian Burke?

It's too early to answer that question. But the Ducks general manager stopped short of confirming he will still be on the job in Anaheim when training camp opens in September.

"I don't know," Burke told reporters Tuesday at a season-ending news conference.

It's been six months since the Edmonton Oilers acquired Dustin Penner from the Anaheim Ducks via an offer sheet, but Brian Burke still hasn't let go.

When asked during an NHL conference call Wednesday whether he could complete a deal with Oilers GM Kevin Lowe before the Feb. 26 trade deadline, the Ducks GM didn't hesitate.
