ATLANTA - Ending the season with a victory was no consolation to Kari Lehtonen.

When the Atlanta Thrashers reported to training camp, their No. 1 goaltender thought his team was a lock to return to the playoffs.

"It's sad. The way we played all year, we should be glad it's over," Lehtonen said. "It's really hard right now."

ATLANTA - Although they've been eliminated from the playoffs, the Florida Panthers can still be spoilers - and Olli Jokinen is looking forward to the challenge.

Jokinen, the Panthers' leading scorer, got his 34th goal in the opening period before Jay Bouwmeester and David Booth scored 17 seconds apart early in the third period Tuesday night and the Panthers held on for a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers, ending a three-game losing streak.

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Atlanta Thrashers kept drawing penalties and Carolina kept scoring. The Hurricanes strengthened their lead in the Southeast Division with a power-play performance that was, well, powerful.

Tuomo Ruutu and Jeff Hamilton each scored two of Carolina's franchise-record-tying five power-play goals in the Hurricanes' 7-1 rout of lowly Atlanta on Friday night that moved them closer to clinching the division.

SUNRISE, Fla. - Mark Recchi was happy to end his month-long scoring drought. And the fact it all but eliminated the division rival Florida Panthers from playoff contention made it even better.

Recchi's goal with 6:13 left in the third period helped the Atlanta Thrashers snap their five-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over Florida on Thursday night.
