Ducks sign Ryan Carter to three-year contract

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Centre Ryan Carter, who appeared in 34 games for Anaheim as a rookie this past season, has signed a three-year contract with the Ducks.

The 24-year-old Carter had four goals and four assists with 36 penalty minutes. The Ducks originally signed Carter as a free agent out of Minnesota State University in the summer of 2006.

ANAHEIM, Calif. - When speculation about his future in Anaheim hit the West Coast media, Brian Burke knew it was time to set the record straight.

Burke put the widespread rumours to rest Wednesday, announcing he will remain as general manager and executive vice-president with the Anaheim Ducks through at least the 2008-09 season.

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Will it be Toronto or Anaheim for Brian Burke?

It's too early to answer that question. But the Ducks general manager stopped short of confirming he will still be on the job in Anaheim when training camp opens in September.

"I don't know," Burke told reporters Tuesday at a season-ending news conference.

TORONTO - Scott Niedermayer's season is over but just how much he will earn in salary remains in question.

The Anaheim Ducks star defenceman already lost about US$2 million in wages from his $6.75-million salary for missing the first two months of the season. He was suspended without pay until he returned in mid-December.
