By only allowing a pair of goals in the first two games against Dallas last week, Osgood has helped Detroit to continue their dominance in the 2008 playoffs. Mr. Reliable has yet to lose a game in this current post-season.

Buffalo Sabres falling on lean times

By: Marty Henwood 197 days 16 hours ago.

Chin up, Buffalo.

I know, I know. It's tough. After all, it is Buffalo. As long as the city stands, graffiti artists will have a place to call home.

But it takes lemons to make lemonade and rain to form a rainbow, so they say.

Or sludge and a pack of matches to make Buffalo. But that's for another day.

As for that little football thing with Toronto, don't take it personally. It's just the way of the world. Some folks think the grass is greener on the other side which, when it comes to Toronto, it obviously is.

As far as your hockey team goes, it has been quite the fall, I know. One minute the Sabres are lounging in the penthouse, the next they're sniffing for scraps in dumpsters.

We've heard the sob stories out of the Queen City as fans cry the small-market blues. Suck it up, buttercup. It's just business.

To be fair, not many teams could lose their two top players and still play with the big boys in the NHL sandbox. Not exactly novel to Western New York's mistake by the lake.

But - and let's be honest here - is it really any wonder why Chris Drury and Daniel Briere bolted as soon as they could? I mean, come on. Briere picked Philadelphia over Buffalo, which shows you where you rank on the social scale.

Don't take it to heart.  It's just Buffalo.

Here's a thought.

Following in the footsteps of Ralph Wilson and the gang in Orchard Park, why not take the Sabres to Hamilton for a few games? Everyone's happy.

Hamilton, a city that hates Toronto more than anyone, gets its NHL team and Sabres get a welcome change of scenery.

Hamilton is not Shangri-La, but for the Sabres it's like moving from the Dew Drop Inn to the Plaza.

In fact, I'm beginning to feel sorry for you guys. The Buffalo jokes are getting old. The punch-lines are still funny as hell, but you can only beat on a city for so long.

Just ask Cleveland.
