Marty Turco, Stars restore Niskanen’s car for fallen colleague

In between writing children's books  and, oh yeah, trying to win a Stanley Cup, Marty Turco somehow found some time to fit a little car restoration into his schedule.

And now, the end result may dry a few tears on the face of a two-year-old girl.

With Turco acting as ringleader, the Stars took the had-seen-better-days ride that was defenseman Matt Niskanen's 2001 Pontiac Sunfire — wheels he has owned since he was 15 — and helped give it a $12,000 facelift.

Maybe Mats Sundin just doesn't want to feel like a tramp.

Maybe lifting the Stanley Cup after three months in another jersey would feel as cheap as sacking up with the entire offensive line of the school football team.

So perhaps it's time for every hockey fan with internet access to calm down and just appreciate the decision, whatever it turns out to be.

We've seen these two nuzzle up before, with the Edmonton Investors Group playing footsies with Katz under the dinner table before tossing him out the door without even a good-night smooch.

Paul Kelly draws NHLPA line in sand with Bettman

Well it didn't take Gary Bettman long to ruffle the feathers of NHLPA union guru Paul Kelly.

Just when it seemed the two players on opposite sides of any future labor tug-of-war were thought to be on fraternal terms - a rarity, if recent relationships are any indication - there comes word that Kelly is less than impressed with Bettman's perceived grandstanding at the NHL All-Star Game this past weekend.

One child sick, robbed of most of his sight, his parents wondering as they tuck him in if this will be the last night. Angels always see another morning, don't they?
