In a move that caught most hockey observers off-guard simply because of the timing, the Toronto Maple Leafs have fired head coach Paul Maurice.
The Leafs, who are also in the hunt for a general manager to replace interim GM Cliff Fletcher, relieved Maurice of his duties this morning.
