The NHL has come down hard on Chris Simon - again.
The repeat offender has been suspended 30 games for his stomping of Jarkko Ruutu's leg in Saturday's Islanders game versus the Penguins. Simon received a match penalty for intending to injure Ruutu.
I'm hoping, for his own good, Chris Simon is sitting down when he takes the call from Colin Campbell this morning.
Suffice to say Simon, even if he doesn't get the lifetime suspension I called for Monday, will have his cheeks parked in the seats for a while.
As I scanned the stories coming across the wire early Monday night, even I had a chuckle when reading one particular headline.
"Simon leaves Islanders for assistance."
Gee, do ya think?
