Scratch J.P Dumont's name off the list of potential players to be dealt before the Feb. 26th trade deadline.
Reports indicate that Dumont has agreed to a 4-year, $16-million contract that will keep him in a Nashville Predators uniform. The deal is expected to be announced later Friday.

I suppose I should be somewhat excited that the Nashville Predators appear to be staying put, but I could care less.
It's a horrible business decision and, in due time, will be an albatross for the NHL.
For whatever reason, the local saviors not only bucked up $193 million, give or take, to keep the team in town but somehow persuaded the city they plan on keeping the team there for at least another five years.

It may be a tad premature to sound the death knell for the Nashville Predators, but it isn't a stretch to say that, as of Wednesday, they have one foot out of Tennessee.
With the clock ticking down to an Oct. 31 deadline, the local group interested in buying the Predators is involved in a tug of war with the city on how long the team will commit to staying in Nashville. The mayor wants a five-year promise before any arena lease deal is signed.

So, headlining the docket when NHL owners assemble in the Windy City are possible expansion destinations and the league's wacky schedule format.
While some limited headway could be made on the train wreck that is the schedule, the old boys club could correct a glaring wrong on the expansion front before boarding their flights out of Chicago.
