Maybe Mats Sundin had decided this was it. Maybe he wanted nothing more than to go out on his own terms.
And if Sundin had already made the decision that this was going to be his final year in the league, I'm sure this isn't how it was supposed to end.

Sources indicate that Toronto Maple Leaf general manager Cliff Fletcher and JP Barry, the agent for Mats Sundin, have met in the past several hours about the possibility of the longtime Leaf captain being traded before Tuesday's NHL trade deadline.
According to Howard Berger at the FAN590 in Toronto, Barry and Fletcher have discussed the option of Sundin waiving his no-trade clause. Reports also indicate both Sundin and defenseman Bryan McCabe were not on the ice at the team practice earlier today.
