By only allowing a pair of goals in the first two games against Dallas last week, Osgood has helped Detroit to continue their dominance in the 2008 playoffs. Mr. Reliable has yet to lose a game in this current post-season.

Fabian Brunnstrom sweepstakes take to the road

By: Rick Couchman 14 days 10 hours 3 minutes ago.

Oh, to be young, willing and available.

Fabian Brunnstrom, the rookie phenom travelling from Sweden, is on the road throughout North America searching for an NHL home.

And he doesn't have to search very hard.

The 23 year-old Brunnstrom is essentially driving the bus wherever he wants and, most importantly, listening to lucrative contract offers along the way.

As heard on Hockey Central via the Fan590 Thursday, agent J.P. Barry indicated that Brunnstrom has narrowed down his main stops to Detroit, Montreal and Dallas, with an honorable mention to Toronto. He's currently touring the first three cities and meeting with the teams to see if there's a fit.

A decision is expected in the next ten days, with those first three squads considered the front-runners.

Really, it's no secret that there are, oh, about 30 NHL teams that really would love to have the unrestricted free agent on their roster. And for good reason, too, as the kid can flat out play.

Brunnstrom is what is known as a late bloomer who just came off a decent year playing for Farjestad in the Swedish Elite League. He has decent size (6-foot-1, 203 pounds), but his real strength is phenomenal skating ability and keen puck sense. He's an offensive threat who is only getting better as he matures.

Some have compared him to the likes of Daniel Alfredsson, which is quite the compliment for a kid that's yet to step on North American ice, but some scouts insist he's going to be that good.

What it boils down to is this: he's worthy of the attention. No draft picks, no compensation. All it takes is some sweet talking and a bucket of cash and Brunnstrom will be lacing them up in the National Hockey League.

Oh, and he wants a promise of a spot on an NHL club next season. There'll be no riding AHL buses for Brunnstrom.

Rumors are flying and speculation is mounting on where he'll land. The soap opera will be over shortly, and he'll be in September training camp somewhere.

That's when the whirlwind tour ends and the real spotlight will begin to shine on young Brunnstrom.
