Seeing how it's almost white-flag time in the Battle Carnage of Pennsylvania, we may as well turn our attention to the faithful of the Flyers and Penguins as they try to one-up each other in tee-hee-hee schoolyard antics.

Supporters of the dirty birds, probably fearing some unscheduled dental work had they been caught defacing a Philly landmark in broad daylight, courageously slipped into the shadows of the famous Rocky Balboa statue and, in darkness, slipped a Penguins' shirt on the chiseled frame of Mr. Far Too Many Sequels himself.

See, if you're going to make a YouTube video pimping Philly's answer to Mount Rushmore, do it in daylight hours so we can at least hear the f-bombs and death threats from the fine denizens of the City of Brotherly Love. You know, this is supposed to be a battle of sorts. Treat it as such and grow a set.

Both Dallas and Philadelphia have one goal right now - win Game 3 at all costs.  A victory will put each team back into the series and give them the momentum they desperately need right now. Winning does wonders, so expect both teams to display the mental toughness needed to win a game that basically controls how their respective series plays out.

You know what, strike the opening paragraph. We know what the Stars and Flyers need to do.  They need to be better. Both teams need a few lucky bounces and take advantage of their chances. Their goalies have to stand on their head and steal a game if need be. They need to avoid penalties, they need, they need, they need...

How about the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins?  What they need to do is win game three and put Dallas and Philadelphia out of their misery. The Wings and Penguins have proven they are the better teams and are two wins away from meeting in the Stanley Cup Final. Now, I am not expecting a sweep in either Conference Finals, but I am expecting the Wings and Penguins to move on.

Detroit has dominated the Stars, winning almost every aspect of the game. It just seems to me the Stars are doing more chasing than anything else. The Wings have been able to control the neutral zone and have taken advantage on the power play. 

If, as they say, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, nobody has bothered to tell Mikkel Boedker.

On the cusp of realizing his NHL dream, Boedker's journey has taken him from Denmark to Sweden and now Canada where, under popular head coach/GM Peter DeBoer, he broke out with a stellar rookie season with the OHL's Kitchener Rangers.

Next stop, the NHL, where Boedker could very well be a Top-10 selection in the NHL Entry Draft next month.

"I decided to come over (to Canada) because my heart told me it was the right thing for me to do and it has been the best time of my life, on and off the ice," said Boedker of his decision to come to Canada.

I just got back from Quebec City where Hockey Canada's AGM was held in conjunction with the Men's World Championships. As the player's rep for the Women's National Team, I have a seat on the Board of Hockey Canada and therefore have to attend their meetings throughout the year culminating with the AGM at the end of the season.

Generally, they're not much to write home about, just long days and lots of policy decisions. But this year was actually fun as we also got to get out of the stuffy board room and watch the Men's World Hockey Championships. What a treat for the outstanding volunteers and staff that make up Hockey Canada. These hard-working volunteers selflessly give their time to over 600,000 people that play this great game in Canada.

It's the time of year where legends, not to mention your playoff fantasy hopes, are made.

One brilliant spring can be the exclamation point on a sensational Hall of Fame run when discussing the likes of Roy, Yzerman, Lidstrom, Stevens, Sakic, Gretzky, Orr, Lafleur or Mario.

For others such as Ranford, Ward, Vernon, Hextall, Goring and Claude Lemieux, it was an unforgettable spring that helped define a career.

It's the calling card for those who show up when it matters most.
